Many college students drop out within the first two years of their degrees because they are not prepared to tackle the academic requirements, adjust to different teaching styles or make good decisions about other basics of college life like finances, lifestyle choices, class attendance and study habits. The workshop will be both instructional and interactive and will cover the key areas which students and researchers have identified as important for success in college. Topics to be covered include: • Seeking help on academic requirements and getting settled • Time Management, attendance, punctuality, dealing with stress • Listening, verbal, writing and other important skills • Dealing with intercultural diversity in college • Importance of the Course Syllabus • Studying, Assignments and Plagiarism • Roommates, making new and keeping old friends • Securing internships, joining activities and working Presenter: Tom Bisogno teaches Decision Making in Groups at WCSU and has taught the full range of communication courses at several area private colleges. Last year, he conducted a seminar on Learning from Conflict in Media for graduate students at the University of Rome. Mr. Bisogno has had extensive experience in Corporate teaching/training, a diverse background in accounting, marketing, product management and in commercial and residential real estate. Tom is a member of the Writers Guild of America and a professional resume preparer and job search consultant. THE PROGRAM IS FREE. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. Register online or call 203-797-4527.
