Important Messages
This program is for students in grades 7-12. It runs from June 18-August 10. The program will end with a party on August 13, when the Kindle Fire winners will be announced. Every book you read contributes to the 1200 book program goal. If you make it, August 13 is also when teachers and librarians will be pied!

You may log books you have read since June 16. Reading to a younger sibling is great, but please record only books on your own reading and interest level.

Prizes become available on June 25 and include $10 gift cards, a T-shirt, McDonald's coupons, a free new/gently-used book, and entry into the drawing for one of three Kindle Fires. You will be notified if you are a winner. For complete information about prizes and other programs, look for the 2014 TSRP brochure in the Teen Room or at the Reference Desk.

This book was breathtakingly beautiful. It is about a disease I've never even heard about. In simple terms, one who has it is "allergic" to the sun. The characters in the book all have this disease (called XP). Because of this, they spend the day sleeping and go out at night. However, one day the main character Allie thinks she witnessed a murder, and the story goes on from there.  Find out more about this book.

I know this is a very popular book, which was why I was hesitant to read it. This is the only book ever where I watched the movie before reading the book the movie was based off of. My friend finally convinced me to read it, and I'm glad I did.
Although the movie was excellent and followed the book very closely, in the book, readers were given more of a window into the parents' lives. And also isaac's. John green is a witty and often sarcastic writer and I love that.   Find out more about this book.

I loved this book so much, I think that it's my second favorite novel by Green, the first being "Looking for Alaska." However, I think the main character was a bit predictable after reading three other John Green books. He is a boy who obsesses over one girl, which is very similar to the plot of "Looking for Alaska," and to an extent "An Abundance of Katherines." I, personally don't think boys behave like this in real life, and I think Green should try creating a different type of main male character next time he writes a book. Otherwise, the book made me laugh at several points with its typical realistic teenage jokes, and had me thinking deeply at most points. Also, the ending was a huge surprise as well, which was refreshing because Green's books are usually predictable. I can also really relate to Margo in this book, although I don't have the guts to do half of the "adventures" that she does. I can really relate to her thought process of everyone being made of paper, and wanting to get away from the fakeness. This book also reads like a mystery with clues and leads to a concrete solution, unlike many other Green books that leave the reader hanging a bit. All in all, it was definitely worth the 5-hr read until 2AM.  Find out more about this book.

This book really deserves all 5 stars, but I gave it only 4 for one reason: I thought it was a supernatural book. The cover looked like a book about a girl who found her paranormal talent. The summary of the book sounded like her entire family was literally dying. The little... snippet on the cover ("One decision, two paths...") sounded like the girl would choose family or love. Basically, I got a little confused as I neared the middle of the book, and the only things happening were this girl's grandmother dying and the girl meeting this guy. I was really expecting this girl to join a league of paranormal humanoid things... but it never happen. However, I really enjoyed the book. The characters were so good, and I loved the main character's reaction to her grandmother dying (not in a mean way, I just thought it was written very realistically). The romance was beyond what I expected, and it totally wowed me with the twists and turns between the main character's relationships. One other thing I wish there was, was more of the main character's best friend. Either that, or the best friend should've been totally taken out of the story. Another thing that was a little weird was that when the main character was with one of her romantic interests, she never thought about the other. This goes both ways. It's a little hard to explain, but at these times, it seemed a little like the main character had no heart... Or like the book was explaining "two paths" that the main character could have taken, romantically. Other than those few minor details, I really think this was a phenomenal book and should really be acknowledged for its 'remarkableness'.  Find out more about this book.
