Important Messages
This program is for students in grades 7-12. It runs from June 18-August 10. The program will end with a party on August 13, when the Kindle Fire winners will be announced. Every book you read contributes to the 1200 book program goal. If you make it, August 13 is also when teachers and librarians will be pied!

You may log books you have read since June 16. Reading to a younger sibling is great, but please record only books on your own reading and interest level.

Prizes become available on June 25 and include $10 gift cards, a T-shirt, McDonald's coupons, a free new/gently-used book, and entry into the drawing for one of three Kindle Fires. You will be notified if you are a winner. For complete information about prizes and other programs, look for the 2014 TSRP brochure in the Teen Room or at the Reference Desk.

This was a great end to the trilogy. It had a lot of suspense and action, as always. For the characters, the truth about what's outside the fence is revealed. I loved this series and I recommend it to everyone.   Find out more about this book.

13 Reasons Why

Jay Asher

I read this book earlier in the summer, and it definitely better suits the winter because of its theme - suicide. As touchy a subject as it is, Asher manages to eloquently write the thoughts and feelings of his two main characters, Hannah Baker, the one who commits suicide, and Clay, an unsuspecting teenage boy who receives her "suicide tapes." The book was obviously sad overall, so if you're looking for a feel-good and slightly cliche book, you've chosen the wrong option. But, I think books with somber tones are much more interesting to read. I highly recommend this book to a slightly older audience of 14+ because of its theme.  Find out more about this book.

I loved this book! It was an addicting read (I read it in a continuous 5 hours), and the only negative thing about this book was that the chronology was strange. The book started talking about Ruby's list of boyfriends from the beginning, but then abruptly changes to the present. But other than that, I would recommend this book to any teenage girl because it depicts real life very well, arguably more than John Green's books, where some of the dialogue seems a bit too well-rehearsed, I also love how the book has little footnotes that go off on tangents about interesting things, like listing movies in which a male character realizes he can't live without his love and chases after her. I also love the message of the book that Ruby's shrink tells her towards the end. I can't give more information away about this advice, because you'll have to read to find out!  Find out more about this book.

The second book in the trilogy did not dissapoint. The author so powerfully conveyed the characters' feelings through their actions and decisions, that I couldn't help but feel what they were experiencing, too. I can't wait for the movie and I reccommend this book sincerely. There are so many strong phrases that I feel that I must quote them!  Find out more about this book.

I loved this book so much. It is told from Beatrice's perspective. In her world, you grow up in one of the five factions, then choose your faction for the rest of your life. The factions are Candor, Erudite, Abnegation, Amity, and Dauntless. In their society, this choice is of upmost importance. They have a rule; Faction Before Blood.  Find out more about this book.

This is about the people who live on the moutain. Their girls have to attend an academy so that the prince can choose a wife. Miri, the main character, conquers her challenges with the strength of a true mountain girl. This book included humor and action all in one. I even found myself smiling throughout this book.  Find out more about this book.
