I don't tend to think of fashion as a serious topic but this is a solidly important work about the women who helped govern clothing design for women's clothes in the United States from the early 1900's until the 1960's. "The Lost Art of Dress"' subtitle is: "The Women Who Once Made America Stylish", referring to the home economists who began emerging as a force in this country in the 1900's, and about their demise. This book should appeal to every woman who has ever given a thought to what she wears and to every person who is interested in the economic emergence of women in society. Highly recommend reading this book and watching some classic movies such as "The Talk of the Town" with Jean Arthur, or "It" featuring Clara Bow. They show that true style is timeless. Also of note: the delightful historic pen and ink illustrations in "The Lost Art of Dress".   Find out more about this book.

Quotes from several of the Gnostic gospels esp of Mary Magdalene, first female apostles, rather convincing. Better than DeVinci Code which is more a sensational novel.   Find out more about this book.

A short book that deals with several issues, one of which is a young woman dealing with breast cancer. Her next door neighbor is a shy, young teenage boy who is much more comfortable reading than interacting with others. Interesting way the young woman helps to show him his worth.

I'm a fan of many of Paulsen's books, and while I don't rate this one as one of my top choices, it's a good short read about sensitive topics.  Find out more about this book.
