Learn how to master the art of visual story telling through this (4) week course. Understand the art of the narrative of film and television and how to create your own work of art. This course is designed the help students not only understand the visual art form, but to allow them the tools and resources they need to shoot, edit and producer their own works from start to finish. By the end of the class students will all have produced a 3-5 minute video work of art to share with the class. Join Lauren Eliz, blogger, life coach and Danbury Library's Maker-In-Residence for the month of September, as she teaches this engaging 4 week course! Week One - The Story, the Narrative and the Art: Students will learn the art of visual storytelling principles - understanding how a script flows, the terms and language of a film production, and figuring out what types of shots are used in visual story telling and how to apply them to their own films. We will pitch story ideas at the end of class after learning through examples of effective visual story telling and the types of film styles. Students will end the class pitching ideas and coming to week two with a solid idea for their film. Tools and Requirements: Students will need a smart phone, iPad or video camera available to them, but we will be giving students the option of working in groups to produce their films (depending on the amount of students who register) They can use their own equipment listed above, but if they do not have those resources available to them those students will work in a group setting with instructor’s tools.
