Join the Hour of Code with a special workshop with our "CODER"-in-Residence, Patrice Gans of Random Hacks of Kindness, Jr. Students are invited to learn how to create their own apps for Android phones. It's fun and easy to do! This workshop will introduce App Inventor for Android devices (from MIT’s Center for Mobile Learning) MIT App Inventor is a blocks-based programming tool which enables students of all ages to start programming and build fully functional apps. During the two session students will learn the fundamentals of app building with step-by-step instructions for more than a dozen fun projects. Students will use MIT’s built-in emulator to design and test their programs. Completed projects will be suitable for download onto Android devices. Participants are encouraged to bring their own laptop. A Google email account is also required. MIT App Inventor supports a worldwide community of nearly two million users representing 195 countries worldwide. The tool’s more than 85 thousand active weekly users have built more than 4.7 million android apps.
