This presentation will get you started on the right foot (or green thumb) to growing your own fresh, nutritious vegetables. Learn the basic steps involved, including: • soil testing and soil preparation, • tips to select healthy vegetable seedlings and flowers for pollinators, • when to water, weed and fertilize to achieve high yields, and • insect issues and organic pest controls. Speaker: Michele MacKinnon is a UCONN Advanced Master Gardener from Sherman, CT who enjoys sharing her gardening knowledge with others. She is writing a landscape design book for D-I-Y homeowners who want simple, affordable advice to enhance their outdoor spaces. The program is free of charge.
